CNN -- "Seven people were killed in Ohio as severe thunderstorms and tornadoes raked the Midwest on Saturday and early Sunday, authorities said... How easy is Weather Defender to use?

by Rory Groves        February 15, 2010  |  11:26 am  |  Category: Latest News

One of the most common compliments we receive about Weather Defender is how easy it is to use. Just how easy is it? Take a look at this weather forecast put together by one of our younger clients:

Kasey Cornette, age 10, writes:

"These colors show the amounts of snow i expect from the storm we are now experiencing which will not be over until Tuesday Feb 16th."

I asked Kasey how he created this forecast and he replied:

"I start with a blank Weather Defender page. I go to map,and I click on screenshot and save it to desktop. Then open, and left click on windows paint. I use a variety of modles to get snowfall averages, and coler the map accordingly."

Well done, Kasey!

by Rory Groves        January 7, 2010  |  9:31 am  |  Category:

Jan 7, 2010: Artic air pushes south from Canada triggering
Wind Chill and Freeze Warnings across the U.S.

Jan 7, 2010: The Upper Midwest is experiencing the brunt of the cold,
with with extreme winds and blowing snow

Don't take any chances today or friday--its going to be fatally cold. At least 7 people have died so far this season, including 4 in Chicago. If you can delay or avoid travel plans through the Midwest, you should do so.

If you must go out in this weather, take it seriously. Have the following in your car:

  • Cell phone with charger
  • Shovel & scrapers
  • Flashlight
  • Extra Hats, coats, mittens, blankets
  • Battery powered radio
  • Snack food and water
  • Road salt or sand
  • First aid kit

Most importantly: Stay tuned to emergency broadcasts and know the weather situation for yourself!

Stay safe, and keep an eye out for those who may need your help.

Best Regards,
